Job Summary

The Medical Office Receptionist will greet patients, maintain patient files, and move patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointment at assigned clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients professionally both in person and on the phone.
  • Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues
  • Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
  • Inputting of patient demographics, insurance & ID information into EMR
  • Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions.
  • Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
  • Verifying eligibility
  • Collecting Co-payment, Co-insurance & deductibles
  • Notifying clinical staff of patient arrivals
  • Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
  • Accurately post payments and provide receipts to patients.
  • Checkout all clinic patients and close out the visit
  • Reconcile individual daily receipts, superbills, and money collected with end of day batch to confirm money balances.
  • Count cash drawers to ensure accuracy and document on log daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 + years clinic or hospital experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD, and CPT coding (highly advantageous) and EMRs
  • Innovative thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and react effectively to emergency situations.
  • Ability to use discretion while working with sensitive information.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and some IT skills
  • Passionate about healthcare excellence

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift Up to 25 pounds at times.
